National Seminar on Intellectual Property: Vehicle for knowledge based Wealth Creation
National Level Seminar on ‘Intellectual Property: Vehicle for Knowledge Based Wealth Creation’ was held on 9th February, 2008 at FIIB. The seminar was coordinated by Dr Mahua Biswas.
The Seminar began with a welcome speech by Dr. Ahindra Chakrabarty (Director General, FIIB) followed by an introduction on the topic of the seminar by Dr.Panda (Director of Academics, PGDM, FIIB). The Keynote speaker of the event was Ms. Manisha Shridhar (IAS), who in the inaugural speech spoke on the overview of the Intellectual Property and its requirement of creating awareness in India. Prof.Abhijit Roy conveyed the vote of thanks to our eminent speaker.
In the Technical session-I, Mr. Saha (Advisor to GOI, TIFAC, Patent Facilitating Centre), spoke on Intellectual Property and Business Strategy. The second speaker of the session Prof. A.K. Sengupta (former Dean IIFT), critically analyzed the affect of Intellectual Property Rights on Trade. The next eminent speaker was Mr. Rajdeep Sahrawat (Vice President, NASSCOM), emphasized how innovation has resulted in the growth of IT industry in India. The session was followed by an interactive session.
In the second technical session, Ms. Sunita Sreedharan (Attorney, SKS Law associates) spoke on globalization and role of Intellectual Property. She explained the different forms of IP and its usage to accelerate the Globalization. Mr. Ramchandani (retd. Astt. Controller of Patents & Designs) focused on the filing and procedure involved in obtaining a Patent. Prof. Hari Parmeshwar lucidly related various cases on infringement and the challenges faced by the legal community. The session was followed by an interactive session.
The last technical session, was based on the managing of Intellectual Property. Prof. Ahindra Chakrabarty (Director General, FIIB), explained the valuation of Intellectual Property. Mr.Gaind (Manager, NRDC) spoke on the challenges faced to Transfer the Technology.
